Sunshine

So after a long day and the last of the heavy rain we arrived in the town near our friends Keith and Hedy, I called Keith to let him know we were getting close and he was in his car on the way home at the next roundabout, so one minute later he pulled up. So good timing for putting all our bags in his car for the last climb up to the tiny hamlet where he lives.

A restful two days, of good food, catching up and comfortable beds. The cold and wet weather, seemingly the worst anyone can remember, finally passed and when we came to say goodbye the sun was shining and we had a fine sunny day of winding our way south ending up In the historic town of Tomar. The other change over our stay with Keith and Hedy had been, with the help of their Portugese, finding out that carrying bikes on trains was not easy, and so instead of training back to Santander and taking the ferry,we are now booked on easy jet from faro. So heading for the south coast.

The road……

More light weight high energy food…..departing Keith’s house.

  1. Hey, a much deserved rest after all that rain and cold. Sounds quite a roller coaster on all levels! I hope the sun stays with you for the rest of the journey, (Maybe a bit of cloud would be good too).

  2. Wow. You have tee shirts!
Great that you are moving on from endurance to a more relaxed form of enjoyment.
I’m a bit concerned about you flying straight home from Faro. It’ll be a huge culture shock. Maybe you ought to consider continuing on to Gibraltar, and maybe Tangier?…. 😉

  3. Lovely views, and you both look so healthy. You make it look easy – what’s the secret? How relaxing it must have been to have home cooked food with your friends and translators.
Meanwhile back in Devon it’s back to April showers between scorching sunshine….well on Dartmoor anyway. Good for the seedlings but not so good for working on my tan. Must go to Brittany to get that – I am!
    Be well and happy peddling,
